I illustrated it, that's what!
Oh I know, lately it's just been all about me, me, me on my blog. I promise I'll get back to book chatter PDQ. But I've been waiting for almost two extra months for this baby to come in the mail, and so I gotta toot the horn a little now that it's finally here! (Apparently there was a hold-up with the printers, I'm not sure why, but suffice to say it was driving my very impatient brain crazy, which is crazy enough as it is).
I've posted some pages from this little book as you can see, and by the end of next week I'll have larger sized sample pages up on my web site.
So there you have it, my second official educational book. I'm still waiting for final editorial comments from the third educational book I recently finished, and I'm not sure when that one will get printed, or if it will even be distributed at all in North America (the publishers for the third book are based in Japan).
So... all you publishers out there.... I'm all geared up to do more children's books! My dance card is not yet full!
Very, very cool. Congratulations! Besides, this *is* book chatter.

Congrats! Well done and you deserve to toot the horn.
BTW a cousin of me, based in Paris, illustrates children books also and, sometimes, they're published in Japan too. Her name is Claudia Bielinsky in case you want to google it.

Really great pictures. The cat is so essential... as essential as the glue. As far as the boy is concerned, every frame is fun. NOT SO MUCH FUN FOR THE CAT.
Here is how I describe the four different expressions on Kitty's face.
Frame 1: I love being a cat. It is so fun to sleep all day and then play and not ever have glue on me.
Frame 2: What the frig? Oh, that is NOT good. And on the ONE area of my entire body I cannot lick.....
Frame 3: OK, now I'm comfortable and I'm MAD! Real mad.
Frame 4: Hmmm. But look. My human is in worse shape than I am. Maybe this IS a game.....
What I love is the change from frame 3 to 4, in the cat's face. He/she goes from startled to angry, and yet the specific features have not changed all that much. Both have the beady eyes, very similar nose and downturned mouth, but totally different effect. Different message on that cat's face. You are remarkably good. Take it from me, a guy who like totally knows catfaces.

Oooops. I just re-read my comment. I meant the difference from frame 2 to 3, Patricia. Real subtle changes, but profound EFFECT.

Congratulations! It's wonderful. I too particularly like the sticky cat.

Mucho congrats, Patricia. Wonderful colors in those illustrations.
But that poor cat!!! Will there be a "WE MUST SHAVE THE KITTY" companion book?

Congratulations! It looks very fun.
From my years of experience with journal publishing, I can tell you there's ALWAYS a hold-up with the printers [so get used to it ;-) ] — probably something sticky.

Congratulations!
I love the pictures. I agree that the cat is essential, and I love how the boy is entirely happy throughout. I look forward to seeing more.

Very good, but I can't help but wonder what's so educational about this book?

The book is part of a large series from Scholastic Canada, called 'Literary Place for The Early Readers'. Some of what this series does:
Addresses all areas of literacy learning: reading, writing, oral language, and word study
The strategy-based approach meets the needs of ALL students
Small-Group Shared Reading approach bridges the gap between Shared Reading and Guided Reading. Levels A–C feature two Teaching Plans: 1 for Small-Group Shared Reading and 1 for Guided Reading
Features a balance of fiction and non-fiction with a variety of text types and forms

Pretty self-explanatory.
