Once in a While, the Little Guys Win...

Once

Listen to this lovely song. I still can't figure out how to embed videos straight into my post – anyone who knows how, please tell me!

I'm a bit of a grump when it comes to the Oscars – haven't watched them in years. Last night was no different. We spent the evening watching a couple of movies I had rented, one of them being the movie Once, which just happened to win the Oscar for original song.

Doesn't make me like the Oscars any more than before, but I am mighty pleased for Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. Their song is beautiful, and they truly did deserve to win.

Lovely, I agree - mmm I'd like to check out the movie now too.

i must be the only human over the age of 6 months who hasn't heard of this song and movie. now i wanna check it out.

there is a field on every youtube video that says "embed." simply copy the link, and paste into a post. that's it...

Seeing this song performed made me want to see the movie as well. I always like it when a song wins an oscar that ISN'T from a Disney movie, since they pretty much own the minds of kids these days. (I know I'm a cynic)

Patricia,

This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by a third party.

sorry, its no longer there,

But if you want to embed videos, you just copy and paste the code listed under "embed" - usually on the right side of you-tube videos, and past it into your blog. I have had no problems doing that.

Historia

I've updated the link, Historia. Hopefully it will stick.

I've tried to embed the video, and it just doesn't seem to work for me! I'm such a techno twit...

I loved this movie so much. I grabbed the soundtrack from my girlfriend as well as some of the Frames' most recent tunes and haven't been able to stop playing them since.

If you're having trouble with videos it depends what type of blog software you use. There's different plug-ins you need for wordpress, I believe... I'm not able to post videos very easily either but I never bothered to figure it out.

I agree...this was a great film... an uplifting and bittersweet tale about love and the power of song. And the song really sticks in your head.

I was pleasantly suprised to see the song nominated at the awards, and amazed to see it win against the big corporate productions (Glen and Marketa seemed shocked!!). It was also nice of Jon Stewart to have Marketa Irglova come back out after the commercial after they cut off her acceptance speech.

P.S. Great blog!!
