Inspired by TED
Strangely enough, it is often when I am at my busiest that I feel the least inspired. My mind is overwhelmed by deadlines and wanting to please art directors, and the end result is that my heart and soul feel a tad neglected. I've been feeling very uninspired lately, because tax time approacheth, and the deadlines loom ever large. But as luck would have it, some friends have been reminding me about the amazing web site TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design), which contains some utterly awe-inspiring and passionate speakers. Do check them out if you can spare some time. In fact, I insist you do. Instead of watching yet another silly TV show, get a cup of coffee, or better yet, a glass of wine, sit down and prepare to be engaged, entertained, and yes, inspired.
Some of my fave speakers to date: Jill Bolte Taylor, Isabel Allende, Ben Dunlap and Maira Kalman.
Enjoy!

Wow...wow...Jill Bolte Taylor's talk was just incredible. Thanks for sharing that one.

miss my next episode of "america's next top model"? or repeats of "seinfeld" i've seen 20 times? or (god forbid) not watch "american idol" in favor of ideas?
thanks for the link -- some brilliant stuff there that even i can understand.

Many thanks for the link - I found Frank Gehry's lecture and a bunch of others. So inspiring.

I agree with you completely Patricia - the TED Talks are fantastic to watch for inspiration. Among my favourite talks is Lawrence Lessig discussing how today's youth are redefining creativity despite the efforts of the big media corps. Must view for anyone interested in where art/tech/creativity are headed: http://www.ted.com/talks/view/id/187

Sometimes, I feel like I'm drowning in a sea of mediocrity, where everyone I know seems content to watch Howie Mandel bump knuckles with greedy boobs and barely-clad starlets dance like harlots before getting voted off by cretinous old judges.
Then I spend time absorbing inspiration like that doled out by TED (the self-diagnosed stroke...OMG what a journey!) and I realize that there is hope yet.
Thank you for shining the light.
