Pirate & Penguin Book Giveaway!!

 
Of course I was gonna do a book giveaway for my baby! How could I not? Ok, here's the deal. Very simple. All you have to do is comment on this post. BUT – in your comment you MUST tell me whether or not you are voting for Pirate (hates the hot sun, not fond of traveling, loves peace and quiet and is partial to yoga) or Penguin (hates the cold, loves traveling and adventure, finds yoga boring!). You can even give me a detailed reason for your answer, or a totally silly nonsensical reason would be good, too!

The contest will run until the end of Thursday November 5th. On Friday November 6th in the morning, I will write down all the names on this blog post, put them in my magic coffee tin, shake 'em up, and pull out three lucky names! Those three names will get a signed copy of my book, plus a luverly bookmark! Woo-hoo!

Pirates and Penguins at McNally Robinson – Arrrr!!!

Hey folks! If ya missed our Pirate & Penguin skit at Word on the Street, don't ye fret! 'Cuz the Pirate Hubby and I will be performing again at McNally Robinson in Don Mills, this Sunday October 18th at 3:00pm! In fact, we'll even be hanging around outside the bookstore about half an hour before the event, handing out free bookmarks in our Pirate & Penguin costumes! (have I mentioned before how shameless I am in my book promotion? 'Cuz if ya didn't know before, ya sure know now!)

And at the end of the skit, I'll be doing a cartooning demonstration for those who wanna learn how to draw pirates & penguins (don't tell anyone – but it's easy peasy!), and there will be an official scientific Pirate & Penguin poll don'tchaknow, to find out if you are truly a Pirate or a Penguin at heart. And last but not least, if you wanna have yer photo taken with the silly Pirate & Penguin, well, you better be there, matey!

So don't miss it! Oh, and I've been to the McNally Robinson bookstore (1090 Don Mills Road, Toronto) and it is amazing. The staff are all so friendly and helpful, and the layout of the store is a visual delight. They have a fantastic selection of books, and the kid's department is not to be missed!

Yes, I've been busy. And yes, I am so lame for not posting the photos from my book launch in September. All I can say is – this has been a crazy busy time! But enough of that.

The launch was amazing! I'm very grateful to everyone who came, and I sure hope they had fun, because I know I did! So without further ado...

Is everyone to go off and lock the door and sit secluded like the lonely writers do, in a soundproof cell, summoning people out of words and then proposing that these word people are closer to the real thing than the real people that we mangle with our ignorance every day? The fact remains that getting people right is not what living is all about anyway.
