Yes, I still haven't posted photos of my Pirate & Penguin play from Word on the Street. Yes, I'm lame. But my excuse is, I've been busy planning for my trip to Nunavut(!) as part of the TD Canadian Children's Book Week. Tonight I'm on a flight to Ottawa, and then first thing tomorrow morning, I'm flying off to Nunavut, landing in Iqaluit about 12:15. I'm looking forward to meeting lots of people, doing lots of presentations for kids and people who are kids at heart, and just generally having an amazing adventure. I am trying very hard to not think about the whole plane thing. Because, you see, to get to any of these smaller communities involves flying on small planes. Some of you may not know about my issues with flying. But darn it, I refuse to miss out on life, so I'm just gonna have to suck it up (and suck on some Valium, while I'm at it. Heh).
Above you can see a map of Nunavut. The places I will be traveling to are Iqaluit, Pangnirtung, Rankin Inlet, Baker Lake and Arviat (the green dotted areas on the map). And, just for fun, I'll even be briefly stopping in Churchill and Winnipeg Manitoba (where I was born!) on my route back to TO.
Now if that ain't an adventure, I sure as heck don't know what is!
Wow, that's awesome. I am so jealous. Though I'd be a lot more jealous in June than I would in November.
