Yet another walking reader!! What the hell is going on?
I encountered this guy while I was power walking the other day. Older gentleman, slightly crazy grey hair, sporting a very pink shirt, while holding a big blue book partially covered by (why??) a pink kitchen towel. As I sped past this fascinating fellow, I was able to get the name of the author of his book. Robert Jordan. Funny enough, I had never heard of this author, until a recent Tweet Up meeting with my TorKidLit group. (Yes, I now attend 'Tweet Ups'! I am so hip. And the TorKidLit group is amazing, but that's another future post, I think). One of the fellows from this group mentioned the author Robert Jordan, because we were talking about authors who had died before finishing up their book series (yes, Steig Larsson was also mentioned).
Anyway, it's all very confusing for me. An author whom I have never heard mentioned before in my life, suddenly shows up a few days later, in the hands of a pink book-walker.
What does it all mean?
It's quite simple.
Had you not heard the name at the Tweetup, you would not have been able to remember it after flying past this walking reader and you would not have been able to write it so clearly in the cartoon above. You'd have remembered the pink shirt and the grey hair, but name of the book/author?
You'd just have scribbled some alphabet soup instead.
