What's Summer without Pirates?

Ahoy, matey! The Summer issue of Chirp is here, and it be jam-packed with lots of summery fun stuff, including a Chirp pirate comic strip!

Doesn't that cover make you think of long summer days full of friendship and adventure? I must confess that this is without a doubt, my fave Chirp cover I've drawn to date. I imagine that it has a great deal to do with the inspiration – I didn't realize how much I loved drawing anything piratey until I wrote & illustrated The Pirate and the Penguin. So perhaps I'm not quite done yet with pirate stories...

I Wanna Watercolour 2

I'm cheating a bit here – this is a watercolour illustration I did for fun a few years ago. But I felt like sharing, cuz well, it ain't half bad, I think.

I Wanna Watercolour

I used to work in watercolour a lot more when I was younger. I think I did it a lot more back then because I had no preconceived notions, and I was a heck of a lot less insecure about working in any traditional art form. But you  know what? Even though I have had no formal training, and I really don't know what the heck I am doing, I love working in watercolour. And I want to get better. So with that in mind, I've created a new category, I Wanna Watercolour, where I will show off my watercolour stuff.

The drawing you see above is my first attempt at watercolour in probably at least a couple of years. Meet Ralphie the Robin. Ralphie is struggling with various issues (hey, aren't we all). Hopefully life will get better for Ralphie, and hopefully I'll get better at watercolour.
